Recycle-Bowl

By: Ashlyn Ludwig

Sustainable U will be hosting its very first Recycle Bowl! The entire week, November 29 to December 3, will be dedicated to spreading information about recycling, sustainability, and environmental awareness. During this week, students are encouraged to recycle every item that they can during their 2nd hour in order to win a class cookie party. Each correctly recycled item is worth one point and each item that is recycled incorrectly is worth negative five points.

Recyclable items: aluminum cans, most plastics, most types of paper, cardboard, glass, and empty food and beverage cartons.

Non-recyclable items: plastic bags, utensils, wrap, straws, wax paper, paper towels, napkins, tissues, pizza boxes, and any food or liquid.

At the end of the Recycle Bowl, each recycle bin will be counted and sorted and then the winner will be announced. If students are interested in recycling, the Recycle Bowl, or Sustainable U, please stop by one of the Wednesday meetings at 7:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. in Mrs. Nedrow’s room (1157).

Happy recycling UHS!
